Kick off NELA's 2011 Fall Seminar by joining NELA members from around the country for NELA's Working for Change: Lobby Day 2011 on Thursday, October 20. Lobby Day 2011 will focus on two legislative initiatives of great importance to employee rights advocates and their clients:

  • Banning forced arbitration of employment claims; and
  • Passing the remaining provisions of the Civil Rights Tax Relief Act allowing for income averaging of lump-sum awards, and eliminating the taxation of non-economic damages.

NELA Lobby Days are fun, exciting and rewarding. You can make a difference in the lives of American workers and their families by meeting with your Senators and Representative about critical legislation affecting their constituents. Nothing is more effective in persuading Congress to change the law than sharing its real world impact on your clients.

There is no charge for participating in Lobby Day 2011, but pre-registration by October 7, 2011 is required. A Lobby Day Breakfast Orientation & Briefing will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. at The Omni Shoreham Hotel. Scheduled to appear at the Breakfast Orientation & Briefing is Senator Al Franken (D-MN), sponsor of the Arbitration Fairness Act of 2011.
